I like to describe the Alexander Technique as the art of doing less in order to achieve more. This surely is the secret of life! So much in society tells us that more effort will bring more success, but the more effort needs to be carefully targeted. More mental focus, more attention usually will help. More physical, muscular effort may not. Many of us are muscular over achievers. Over working muscles are what we call tense muscles. Tense muscles never improved anything. The right amount of effort is the least we can use and still successfully complete the task.
